Carol Pape, CAE
Carol Pape, CAE, is the executive director for the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID), Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) and the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS). Carol has more than 30 years of leadership experience with associations and has held a number of roles, including chief operating officer and vice president of programs. A strategic leader focused on growth and outcomes, she has an eye for innovation and implementing operational efficiencies.
Along with her expertise on the staff side of working with association boards, Carol also has years of experience serving as a board member for a variety of non-profits herself. This dual perspective has given her unique insight into developing effective partnership with boards. “I understand the challenges board members can face,” says Carol. “I approach working with them in the same way I wanted to be served when I was a board member.”
An affirmed people person, Carol is a gifted communicator who excels at building and nurturing relationships between boards, members, staff, and the communities they all serve. She values transparency, 2-way communication, and the opportunity to bring some fun into everything she does.
Carol has a BS in Community Health Education from Indiana University and has earned the certified association executive (CAE) credential. In 2016, she was recognized by Association Forum for her meaningful and lasting impact on the association community with the John C. Thiel Distinguished Service Award.
When she’s not at AMC, Carol enjoys spending time with her family, gathering with friends, and reading historical fiction and other novels.
