Mark Engle, DM CAE FASAE
Back to Our ExpertsMark Engle is principal at AMC and leads our governance consulting. A frequent author and speaker on governance and high-performing organizations, he served as a CEO for trade associations and professional societies for 29 years. During his career, he has participated in more than 400 board meetings and served on six boards, leading to in-depth knowledge of board engagement and governance. In 2019, Mark and Will Brown, PhD, Texas A&M University, published Recruit the Right Board: Proven Processes for Selecting Critical Competencies from their groundbreaking research. Through his hard work and dedication, Mark earned the Samuel Shapiro Award for Outstanding CEO from the Association Forum of Chicagoland, was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame and the Metal Construction Hall of Fame, and was awarded the Glenn W. Bostrom Lifetime Achievement Award by the AMC Institute in 2024. Mark has a doctor of management degree from Case Western Reserve University researching high performing boards. Outside of AMC, Mark enjoys hiking and cycling with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
