Pierre M. Désy, is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). A transformative association executive, Pierre has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare association management and public health. He is passionate about advancing health equity, enhancing organizational growth, and building collaborative partnerships with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary care team. Prior to joining AMC, Pierre served as CEO of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the Foundation for Women’s Cancer. He also held executive leadership roles with the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Emergency Nurses Association and has served as a management consultant and coach, supporting healthcare associations and professionals in improving performance and achieving excellence. Pierre has a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Illinois–Chicago. In 2023, Pierre obtained his Certified Professional Coach (CPC) credential from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). Outside of AMC, Pierre currently serves as president of the Board of Directors for the Chicago Dance Health Fund (CDH), an organization dedicated to providing financial relief for preventative healthcare and critical medical needs of dance professionals in Chicago.
