We’re excited to announce that Carol Pape, CAE, has been hired as an executive director and will serve two of our client partners: the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) and the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS).

Carol comes to AMC with more than 30 years of experience working with associations and organizations in both staff and board leadership roles. Most recently, she was the chief operations officer (COO) for the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), a role she held since 2013. As COO, Carol managed all functional areas of APC’s operations, programs, and services; oversaw an operating budget of $1.6 million; directed the Board of Chaplaincy Certification, Inc. (an APC affiliate) in streamlining the application and interview process for 400 candidates annually; and collaborated with international strategic partners to outline the professional standard for the 31 competencies by which certification candidates are assessed. In addition to her role with the APC, Carol has served as president for the Greater Palatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry and as vice president of programs for the Northwest Suburban Association of Commerce & Industry.

Along with her professional achievements, Carol is also an active volunteer leader. She has served as president for the Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity and the PTA, and as a board member for Association Forum and the Schaumburg Township Elementary School Foundation.

“I am thrilled that Carol has joined the AMC executive team,” says Steve Smith, AMC CEO. “She is a trusted leader in the association community and skilled communicator who excels at building strong partnerships with boards. Our client partners will benefit from her strategic expertise and skill at implementing operational improvements.”

Carol has a BS in Community Health Education from Indiana University and has earned the certified association executive (CAE) credential. In 2016, she was recognized by Association Forum for her meaningful and lasting impact on the association community with the John C. Thiel Distinguished Service Award.

Carol began her role at AMC on January 31, 2022.
